Story:

Things have gone from bad to worse for NATO forces in Europe, Asia, and
in the Med. In fact, Turkey and Greece have been defeated and, for the
last two weeks, Soviet Naval forces have poured into the Med.

Huge land battles are raging in northern Italy and Southeast France, so
little help can be expected from the Air Force. French naval forces
have been destroyed in the early fighting. A second Battle of Britain
is underway, this time the BUZZ BOMBS are Soviet and carry chemicals.

The surprise pact between the USSR and China has created very heavy
pressure on the Japanese, and American Pacific Fleet. North Korea has,
as expected, launched their invasion of the South, this time with Soviet
and Chinese active participation.

Libyan and Soviet forces are pressing hard on the Suez area, having
swept across Egypt like a knife through butter. Israeli survival
against Syrian, Soviet, Jordanian, and Iraqi armies is doubtful.
Chemical scuds are now in regular use.

In short, times are tough. The likelihood of additional help from
outside the Med area is nil. With Gibraltar still securely held by
the British, the Soviets want Suez REAL bad. They have places to go
and don't want their navy bottled up in the Med.

Your mission is the reinforcement of the troops holding the Suez area.
A large convoy of transports is moving East from Gibraltar. To support
this effort, you have a major surface action group, a few subs, and one
Carrier group.

There is also a squadron of F-111's, a Marine Harrier squadron, and some
Canadian CF-18's, specially flown over to France to assist in this
mission. These aircraft, however, are not equipped nor trained for
carrier operations. You are not allowed to land them on the carrier.

Italian support will be in the form of a small surface ASW group and
permission to use Brindisi for air and sea basing.

For the first time, US Pegasus class hydrofoils are going to be put into
action. These craft were brought over by ship, as they are not
seaworthy enough for open ocean travel. They cannot be used in bad
weather and must avoid stormy areas at all costs.

Facing you, Libyan, Syrian, and Soviet subs, surface action groups and
long-range air patrols. Intelligence has found out that the enemy is
fully aware of the troop convoy and is mobilizing everything available
to stop it.

Success in this mission is getting those transports to the Suez area and
protecting them for 8 hours while they unload. If you cannot make it in
72 hours, the ground units in the area will be unable to hold out.

This is a big scenario, using lots of memory. Suggestion is to disable
your mouse, reduce FILES and BUFFERS, load high what you can, and not
use any TSR's. Once you contact the Soviets, this will be a knock down,
drag-out, punch-up, slug-fest between Major surface units and air.

The Soviet objective, obviously, is to sink everything possible,
especially the amphibious troopships.
